Tattoo 005

She asked for a specific Tattoo Johnny (flash) butterfly with an American flag in it. Because I couldn't find the flash image here, at home, I grabbed some samples of it from Google:

And here's the reworked version. Outline, then colored with Prismacolors on Vellum paper.

We both weren't into the shine on the right side of my coloring, so we killed it in final tattoo. An outline/shaded photo of it is in the gallery along with Tattoo #04.

Is it just the photo, or is your outline already stronger on this one?

I like the softer lines of your version.

So was there something that prompted the changes in shape and depth over the original flash?

Riko made a post about my hesitance. It really made me think... so I approached this outline differently in my head. I'm nowhere near being happy with it, but I do feel a bit more comfortable with my hand.

I agree with liking the softer lines (thank you). And that's actually what prompted the change. I didn't like the odd curves of the wings. Because I'm doing these tattoos for free, I'm able to come up with my own version of what the person suggests.

Nice work! Good change with the design. Much cleaner and flow is good. Already great improvement! Thanks for using the advice. More posts!!!
